Every piece at Votre Luxe is examined in person by our experienced team. We don't authenticate from photos, and we don't use AI. True luxury is defined by craftsmanship you can see, feel and even smell, and recognising it takes a trained eye and years of handling the real thing.
Why we only authenticate in person
Super Fakes Can Get Close. They Can't Get It Right.
Today's highest-grade counterfeits, often called super fakes, are made to pass a quick glance and a good photograph. Online, they can look almost identical to the real thing.
In the hand, the differences reveal themselves. The weight of the hardware, the way leather softens under your fingers, the tension and angle of each stitch, the precision of a heat stamp. These are details that only show up when a piece is held, turned and studied by someone who knows exactly what it should feel like.
That's why every item we sell, and every item we authenticate for clients, is reviewed physically in our boutique.
What we examine
Every Detail, In Hand
Leather & Materials
We assess the grain, texture, thickness and weight of every material. Genuine leathers age, soften and crease in ways that imitations can't replicate.
Stitching
Stitch count, spacing, angle and tension are studied closely. Each house has its own signature, and even small inconsistencies tell a story.
Hardware
Zips, clasps, feet and engravings are checked for weight, finish, font and the way they move. Hardware is one of the hardest things to fake convincingly.
Stamps & Markings
We examine the depth, spacing and lettering of heat stamps, along with date codes, serial numbers and microchips where applicable.
Construction
Edge painting, linings, interior pockets, structure and symmetry all reflect how a piece was made. True craftsmanship is consistent everywhere, including the places most people never look.
Scent
Smell plays a real role in authentication. Genuine leather has a distinct, natural scent, while counterfeits often carry a chemical or glue-like odour. It's a detail no photo or algorithm can detect.

We take authentication seriously. If anything about a piece raises even the slightest doubt, it won't be listed in our boutique or on our website. We'd rather turn a piece away than ask a client to take a chance.
